Free Parenting Support Services in the Northern Territory

Parenting in the NT — whether in Darwin or a remote community — comes with access to free services designed specifically for Territory families.

The Northern Territory has unique communities and landscapes, and its parenting support services reflect that. From 24/7 phone lines to community-based programs, here's what's available to NT families.


Parentline Queensland and Northern Territory

Parentline serves both Queensland and the Northern Territory, offering free telephone counselling and support for parents and carers. Trained counsellors are available throughout the day and evening, seven days a week.

- Hours: 7 days, 6am–midnight (AEST)


FACES Family Support Line (NT)

The FACES Family Support Line is a Northern Territory-specific free service providing support, information, and referrals for families across the Territory.

- Phone: 1800 999 900

- Hours: Monday–Friday, 8am–8pm


NT Government Family Support Services

The NT Government's Department of Territory Families, Housing and Communities delivers a range of free family support services, including early childhood programs, parenting programs, and support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.

Triple P — Positive Parenting Program

Free online Triple P parenting programs are available to all NT families with children under 12.

Raising Children Network

The Australian Government-backed Raising Children Network provides extensive free online parenting resources relevant to all families, including those in remote communities.

Kids Helpline

If you have concerns about a child's wellbeing, or if a young person in your family needs to talk to someone, Kids Helpline is a free 24/7 national service.

- Available 24 hours, 7 days


Family Relationship Advice Line

For support with co-parenting or family relationships, the national Family Relationship Advice Line is free and available to NT families.

- Phone: 1800 050 321

- Hours: Monday–Friday 8am–8pm, Saturday 10am–4pm
