Free Parenting Support Services in Tasmania

Tasmania may be small but it has a caring network of free parenting support — available 24/7 by phone and through community programs across the island.

Parenting in Tasmania comes with access to a range of free services, whether you're in Hobart, Launceston, or a more rural area. Here's what's available to you and your family.


Parent Line Tasmania

Parent Line Tasmania is a free, confidential telephone counselling service for parents and carers. It's available around the clock, every day of the year — so whenever you need support, someone is there to answer.

Integrated Family Support Service (IFSS)

IFSS operates across northern, southern, and south-western Tasmania, providing free support for families with children aged 0 to 18. Services help with parenting skills, child safety, family wellbeing, and can begin even before a baby is born.

- Led by Baptcare and other regional partners

- Contact via your local health service or GP for a referral

Child Health and Parenting Service (CHAPS)

CHAPS provides nurse home visits for first-time parents aged 15–19 in Tasmania, offering practical support through your child's first two years.

HIPPY — Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters

HIPPY is a free, home-based early learning and parenting program in Tasmania. A tutor visits your home every two weeks with activity packs, and the program only takes about 10–15 minutes per day. It's designed to help prepare children for school through play and connection.

Triple P — Positive Parenting Program

Free online Triple P is available to all Tasmanian families with children under 12.

Family Relationship Advice Line

For support navigating separation, co-parenting, or relationship difficulties, the national Family Relationship Advice Line is free and available to Tasmanians.

- Phone: 1800 050 321

- Hours: Monday–Friday 8am–8pm, Saturday 10am–4pm
