Free Parenting Support Services in Victoria

Victoria has an impressive network of free parenting services — from residential early parenting centres to community playgroups. Here's what's available to you.

Parenting in Victoria comes with access to some fantastic free support. Whether you're navigating the newborn stage, managing toddler behaviour, or supporting a teenager through a tough time, there are services here to help — no referral required for most of them.

The Orange Door

The Orange Door is Victoria's key entry point for families who need support. It connects families experiencing life pressures — including financial stress, mental health challenges, family violence, or parenting difficulties — to the right local services. Everyone is welcome, services are free, and no referral is needed.

Regional Parenting Services (Victoria)

Victoria's Regional Parenting Services offer free support to parents and carers of children from birth to 18 years. They provide parenting information, education, and both individual and group-based support to help you build skills and confidence at any stage.

Early Parenting Centres

Victoria's Early Parenting Centres provide specialist support for families with children aged 0–4, particularly around sleep, settling, feeding, and child development. You can access day stays or residential (overnight) programs. Centres across the state include:

Maternal and Child Health Line

Victoria's Maternal and Child Health Line is a free 24/7 service staffed by child and family health nurses. It's ideal for questions about your baby's health, development, feeding, or sleep at any time of day or night.

Free Baby Bundle for First-Time Parents

Every first-time parent in Victoria is eligible for a free Baby Bundle — a pack of essentials worth up to $150 to help you through the first few months. It includes a nappy bag, safe sleeping bag, first aid kit, picture books, and parenting information. Ask at your hospital or maternal and child health nurse.

Playgroup Victoria

Find a free or low-cost community playgroup near you through Playgroup Victoria.

Triple P — Positive Parenting Program

Free online parenting programs are available for all Victorian families with children under 12.
