Canberra and the ACT have a range of free parenting services right on your doorstep — from phone counselling to community playgroups and government family programs.
The ACT is a small but well-serviced territory when it comes to parenting support. Whether you're a new parent or navigating the challenges of raising older children, here's what's available to you in Canberra and surrounds.
Parentline ACT
Parentline ACT offers free telephone counselling and support for parents and carers in the Australian Capital Territory. Counsellors can help with a wide range of parenting concerns.

ACT Government Community Services
The ACT Government Community Services Directorate provides a range of children, youth, and family support services including child and family centres, disability services, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander services. Many are free or low-cost.

ACT Playgroups
ACT Playgroups connects families with children under school age to community playgroups across Canberra. Playgroups are a great way for children to develop social skills and for parents to build community connections.

Triple P — Positive Parenting Program
All ACT families with children under 12 can access free online Triple P parenting programs.

For relationship or co-parenting support, the national Family Relationship Advice Line provides free information and referrals.

Raising Children Network
While not ACT-specific, the Raising Children Network is an Australian Government-backed online resource with extensive evidence-based parenting information for every stage, from pregnancy to teenagers.
